Hanukkah Day 7 The joy of His Presence

On day seven of Hanuka, we're looking at the joy of the Lord's presence. "In Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are Pleasures forever more." (Psalm 16:1)
As the manora burns brighter with every passing day of Hanuka, we are reminded that God's light brings not only guidance and protection, but also joy. The joy of Hanuka is not rooted in circumstances, but in the miracle of God's faithfulness, areer His constant presence with His people.
True joy comes from knowing that God is with us—Emmanuel. It is not dependent on fleeting moments of happiness or on the absence of struggles. Joy is deeper; it flows from a heart that is anchored in God's love, in His grace, and in His promises. It is the assurance that no matter what happens, we are not alone; we are held by the One who created us.
The Macbes experienced this joy as they rededicated the temple and celebrated their victory. Their joy was a dedication of faith, gratitude, and hope—a response to God's goodness and His provision. We too can experience this joy, even in the midst of the challenges that we face, by choosing to focus on His presence and trusting in His unfailing love.
Take time today to reflect on the ways that God's presence has brought joy into your life. Consider the moments when He has shown His faithfulness, provided for your need, or simply reminded you that you are not alone. Let those memories fill your heart with gratitude and renew your joy.
Let's pray: Lord, thank You for the joy that comes from being in Your presence. In a world filled with uncertainty, Your love and Your faithfulness are our anchor. Help us to remember that true joy is found in You, not in circumstances. Fill our hearts with gratitude and hope, and let Your joy be our strength. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
