Hanukkah Day 8 The Eternal Light

On day eight, the final day of Hanuka, we're focusing on Jesus, the Eternal Light. "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 15)

On the final day of anuka, the manora shines with its full brilliance, every candle lit and glowing brightly. This radiant display is a reminder of the eternal nature of God's light—a light that no darkness can extinguish. It points us to Jesus, the light of the world, who came to bring hope and salvation, to bring eternal life to all who believe.

The story of Hanuka is one of resilience and of God's faithfulness. Despite the odds, the light of the manora burned brightly—a symbol of God's enduring presence with His people. The same light continues to shine in our lives through Jesus. His light overcomes the darkness of sin, of despair and fear, and brings us into the joy of His presence, the peace of His kingdom.

As we light the last candle, we are invited to reflect on how we carry His eternal light into the world. Just as the manora illuminates the space around it, we are called to be bearers of God's light, sharing His love and His truth with a world that is in need. This is not a one-time act, but a daily commitment to walk in His light, allowing us to transform the presence around us, to bring His light where it is needed, and to guide others to Him.

As the manora is fully lit, we're reminded of the power of God's light in our lives. No matter how dark the circumstances around us may seem, His light shines brighter. Through Jesus, we have hope, we have redemption, and the promise of an eternal future with Him.

Let's pray: Jesus, light of the world, thank You for shining Your light into our lives. We praise You for overcoming the darkness and bringing us into the joy of Your presence. Help us to walk in Your light daily and to share it with others. Let Your love and Your truth shine through us, bringing hope to those around us. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
