This site approaches New Testament prophecy from a continuationist Christian perspective. I believe the Holy Spirit may still give prayerful impressions that strengthen, encourage and comfort. Such impressions are fallible, must be tested and do not add to or carry the authority of Scripture.
A biblical framework for discernment
Prophecy can stir sincere faith, but it can also be surrounded by unhealthy certainty. Rosh Hashanah brings together Scripture, living Jewish tradition and Christian interpretation. The principles below help keep those different layers clear and keep prophecy rooted in Scripture, humility and responsible discernment.
1. Scripture has a different authority from prophetic impressions
The Bible is the measuring line. A personal or seasonal prophetic word may encourage and illuminate, but it is not placed on the same level as Scripture and must be tested.
2. Jewish tradition is described as Jewish tradition
Where a practice or interpretation comes from later Jewish tradition rather than directly from the Torah, we say so. This allows readers to appreciate Jewish meaning without mistakenly calling every custom “biblical.”
3. Christian interpretation is identified as interpretation
Christians see Jesus as the centre of Scripture and naturally read the feasts in light of the New Testament. We do this without claiming that Jewish observance exists merely to illustrate Christianity, and without erasing the living Jewish community.
4. Prophecy is not fortune telling
We reject divination, spiritual manipulation and the sale of hidden knowledge. Personal ministry may involve financial support for the minister’s time and work, but God and revelation are not commodities.
5. No date-setting
Rosh Hashanah and the Hebrew year number are not used here to claim a guaranteed date for the rapture, Second Coming, global collapse, financial breakthrough or another specific future event.
6. Major life decisions deserve multiple forms of discernment
Prophetic words should not carry the whole weight of decisions about marriage, divorce, medical treatment, major financial commitments or other life-changing choices. Scripture, facts, prayer, wise counsel and personal responsibility remain essential.
7. Hope without hype
The aim is not to remove expectation but to deepen it. Biblical hope can be bold without being manipulative. Prophetic ministry can be meaningful without pretending certainty about everything.
