Welcome to day one of our Hanuka Series. Today we focus on the theme of dedication. Hanuka is called the Festival of dedication. It reminds us of the time when the temple in Jerusalem was cleansed and rededicated to God after it had been defiled.
In John 10 22-23 we read: "Then came the Festival of dedication at Jerusalem; it was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon's colonade." Even during this celebration, Jesus chose to be present in the temple—a reminder of His role as the ultimate fulfillment of everything that the temple stood for. He is our connection to God, the one who cleanses and dedicates us for His purposes.
Dedication is about setting something apart for God. In our lives, this means inviting Jesus to cleanse us from anything that Hind ERS us and to fill us with His spirit so that we can be a light to the world. Just as the temple was rededicated, we too can dedicate our hearts on you our lives to Him.
Let's pray: Lord, thank You for being the light of the world and for giving us this opportunity to dedicate our lives to You today. We ask that You cleanse our hearts from anything that does not belong and fill us with Your spirit. May we shine brightly in this world that needs Your light. In Jesus's name, amen.
