THE CENTRAL QUESTION

What is God saying as we enter the Jewish New Year?

Rosh Hashanah is not a secret code for predicting the next twelve months. Yet seasons in the biblical calendar can draw our attention back to themes Scripture already places before us: remembrance, repentance, awakening, preparation, mercy, obedience and hope.

It is important to distinguish the biblical text, Jewish tradition, Christian reflection on Jesus and the feasts, and personal prophetic reflection. We can listen expectantly while still testing what we hear and recognising that a prophetic impression is not a fixed script.
